NHGPC Flying Sites Print

Hill Farm

Our home site, based in Fransham, Norfolk. We have two grass runways measuring 1.1km and 0.7km, which allow us to launch into almost any wind direction. Our winches have enough cable attached to launch pilots to heights of 2000ft, depending on the weather conditions.

We have a club caravan and all visitors are welcome to camp overnight if they wish (no camping amenities are available). There are numerous B&B facilities nearby, we recommend the Ploughshare Public House in nearby Beeston.

West Runton

West Runton is located approximately 3 miles west of Cromer, and any flying activity requires a direct northerly wind. The launch site is privately owned, and car parking charges apply to all visitors.

The coastal ridge extends for almost 26 miles, but is generally only flyable in parts depending on the prevailing wind direction.

This site allows top landings for paraglider pilots only - the HG landing site is on the beach just east of the concrete access road. West Runton also has a nearby Cafe and local authority toilet facilities.

Mundesley

Mundesley is located approximately 6 miles East of Cromer, and takes a North-Easterly wind for flying activity. Access is unrestricted, although we would ask all visitors to park considerately as the launch site is located at the top of the beach access road.

Mundesley shares the coastal ridge with Cromer and West Runton. Top landing is possible for paraglider pilots only (although more restricted than West Runton). The main landing site is on the beach between the wooden groins.

There are no facilities to speak of here, but you can find local pubs and shops nearby, and of course no visit would be complete without spending the evening in the Royal Hotel, home of good food and even better hospitality!
